MY PRIORITIES

Howell Public Schools should prepare every student for a successful future while maintaining strong schools, supporting excellent educators, and responsibly managing the resources our community has entrusted to the district.

As a Trustee, my role is not to manage the district's day-to-day operations. It is to help set direction, establish policy, provide oversight, monitor results, and ensure accountability to our community.

  1. Future-Ready Pathways

  2. Academic Achievement & Student Support

  3. Safe & Positive Schools

  4. Excellent Educators

  5. Fiscal Stewardship & Transparency

Future-Ready Pathways

Preparing students for life after graduation means recognizing that success looks different for every student. Howell Public Schools should provide strong academic opportunities while helping students explore careers, develop practical skills, and discover pathways that match their strengths, interests, and goals.

Every student deserves a pathway to a successful future.

What Future Ready Means

COLLEGE

Strong academics, advanced coursework, dual enrollment, and preparation for postsecondary education.

LIFE

Communication, collaboration, problem-solving, independence, and practical skills students need beyond the classroom.

CAREERS & SKILLED TRADES

Career and technical education, work-based learning, skilled trades, and opportunities to explore in-demand careers.

INDIVIDUAL PATHWAYS

Multiple opportunities for students with different strengths, abilities, interests, and post-graduation goals.

As a Trustee, I will focus on:

Expanding opportunity — Supporting access to rigorous academics, CTE, dual enrollment, work-based learning, extracurricular experiences, and other meaningful pathways.

Connecting learning to the future — Asking how programs and investments help students build the knowledge, skills, experiences, and relationships they need after graduation.

Measuring preparedness — Looking beyond graduation rates alone and asking whether students are leaving Howell prepared to successfully take their next step.

The goal isn't for every student to follow the same path. The goal is for every student to leave Howell prepared for their path.

Academic Achievement & Student Support

Every student should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their potential.

Strong schools begin with strong teaching and learning. Howell Public Schools should maintain high academic expectations while recognizing that students may need different levels and types of support to succeed.

STRONG ACADEMICS
High expectations, rigorous instruction, and opportunities that challenge students at every level.

EARLY & EFFECTIVE SUPPORT
Identifying needs early and providing appropriate support before students fall further behind.

GROWTH FOR EVERY STUDENT
Supporting students who need intervention while continuing to challenge students who are already meeting or exceeding expectations.

DATA-INFORMED IMPROVEMENT
Using meaningful student data to evaluate progress, identify gaps, and understand whether strategies are working.

As a Trustee, I will focus on whether students are making meaningful progress, whether gaps are improving, and whether district resources are aligned with student needs.

Every student deserves both high expectations and the support needed to meet them.

Safe & Positive Schools

Students learn best when they feel safe, supported, connected, and respected.

Howell Public Schools should provide learning environments that support both physical safety and a strong sense of belonging. That means clear expectations, consistent systems of support, effective communication, and a school culture where students are known, challenged, and supported.

PHYSICAL & EMOTIONAL SAFETY
Maintaining safe facilities, strong emergency preparedness, and supports that promote student well-being.

BELONGING & CONNECTION
Creating school environments where students feel known, valued, and connected to adults and peers.

CLEAR EXPECTATIONS
Supporting consistent behavior expectations and fair, effective responses when problems occur.

EARLY SUPPORT
Using attendance, behavior, climate, and other data to identify concerns early and connect students with appropriate support.

As a Trustee, I will focus on whether district policies, resources, and systems are helping create safe, positive, and supportive learning environments for every student.

Students should feel safe enough to learn, supported enough to grow, and connected enough to belong.

Excellent Educators

Great schools depend on great people.

Howell Public Schools should be a place where talented educators and staff want to work, grow, and stay. Supporting an excellent team means providing strong leadership, meaningful professional learning, clear expectations, appropriate resources, and a workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported.

ATTRACT & RETAIN
Remaining competitive in recruiting and retaining talented teachers, administrators, and support staff.

SUPPORT & DEVELOP
Providing meaningful professional learning, leadership development, and opportunities for employees to strengthen their practice.

POSITIVE WORKPLACE CULTURE
Building a culture of trust, collaboration, professionalism, and shared responsibility for student success.

LISTEN & LEARN
Using employee feedback, retention data, staffing trends, and other information to understand what's working and where improvement is needed.

As a Trustee, I will focus on whether district policies, priorities, and resources support the recruitment, development, and retention of an excellent team.

When we invest in great people, we invest in great opportunities for students.

Fiscal Stewardship & Transparency

RESPONSIBLE BUDGETING
Supporting budgets that prioritize student outcomes while maintaining the district’s long-term financial stability.

LONG-TERM PLANNING
Looking beyond the current year to understand enrollment, staffing, facilities, funding, and other factors that affect the district’s financial future.

ACCOUNTABILITY & OVERSIGHT
Asking thoughtful questions, monitoring major expenditures and capital projects, and ensuring appropriate processes and controls are followed.

TRANSPARENCY & TRUST
Providing the community with clear, accessible information about district finances, priorities, investments, and results.

Every dollar should support a strong and sustainable future for Howell Public Schools.

Our community has made a significant investment in its schools. Responsible stewardship means aligning resources with student needs and district priorities, planning for the long term, carefully overseeing major investments, and communicating clearly about how taxpayer dollars are being used.

As a Trustee, I will focus on whether district resources are aligned with our priorities, major investments receive appropriate oversight, and financial decisions support both today’s students and the district’s long-term stability.

Fiscal stewardship isn’t simply about spending less—it’s about using community resources wisely, transparently, and with purpose.

Future Ready. For Careers. For College. For Life.

These priorities are connected by one goal: ensuring Howell Public Schools remains a strong, sustainable district that prepares every student for what comes next.
